The grammar aspect of the WRITE project was extremely challenging at times as it explored areas of grammar far beyond that which I would teach or expect my pupils to understand at a primary level. As an English lead in the school and for my own personal development it has provided much greater confidence in ‘unpicking’ language at a technical level.
As a primary teacher, I feel equipped to teach, explore and debate elements of grammar enthusiastically with both staff and children alike. It is a highly intricate subject which deserves skillful dialogue and teaching which, sadly, most teachers are not equipped to deliver.
